Hi! My name is Lisa Crawford, and I began working with adults in a sheltered workshop setting in the 1990s. I continued to work with adults in group home settings and then taught in the mainstream classroom for sixteen years. During my teaching experience, I worked with students participating in special education, ELL students, and ran two after school tutoring programs. I returned to working with clients in their homes part-time while teaching. I enjoy working with adults and children, and my emphasis has been working with people with intellectual disabilities, dual diagnosis, Prader Willis syndrome, and people diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. My clients have ranged from six years old to 80 years old. I have a total of 16 years’ experience as a behavior consultant assisting people in either increasing or decreasing target behaviors. In June I will have 17 years’ experience! Most of my experience is working with people that receive Medicaid Waiver services. I have been told my whole life that if you love what you do, you never really “work”, you get to participate in what you love. This is exactly how I feel about providing behavior supports.
I am constantly learning and am currently enrolled in the Applied Behavior Analysis program at Ball State University. I am excited to learn and become a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. I have a bachelor and master’s degree from Indiana University Southeast, and plan on being a student to help the people I work with for the rest of my career.
I have a wonderful son with special needs, married my high school sweetheart, and have three grandchildren now that I love to spoil. My service dog Barrett is my other child. He travels with me almost everywhere, and loves being with my clients. I am so excited to start my journey with Outward Bound Support Services! Lisa currently serves the Southern Indiana area.
